Coming Soon: Bracketology 2024

Hello! This is a brief programming note. I’ve never felt the need to write one of these before, but WordPress tells me that 17 different people out there viewed this site today. Seventeen! This statistic is a testament to one of two things: either my newfound credibility after last year’s performance, or Dead Internet theory. I personally prefer option #1.

In either case, I wanted to let you know that my first projections of the season will go up in either the last week of January or the first week of February.

In years past I’ve found the NET data is still too unstable on a day-to-day basis at this point in the season for me to make meaningful assessments of where teams stand. This is especially true when it comes to low- and mid-majors. McNeese State was 42nd in NET and 138th in strength of schedule as of last Tuesday. Two conference matchups later and they’re down to 62nd and 252nd in NET and SOS, respectively. Mind you, McNeese won both of those games. Such is life in the Southland.

In sum, the numbers are still baking in the oven. They’re not ready to come out yet. The edges aren’t even close to golden brown. In a few weeks time, they will be ready to taste.

See you in a few weeks!
